The apartment is located on the second floor of the Porto Antigo 2 Residence. It is located right on the beach and right in the centre of the town near all the amenities. You cannot get a better location than this. The apartment also affords being right in the centre of the complex as well. The two balconies one at the front and one at the back give you spectacular views of the Beach and the town. It does not come with heating as this is not required. It is suitable for all ages as long as they are able to climb some stairs as the apartment is on the second floor. There are two terraces one at the back which is handy for eating out of the kitchen. The large terrace at the front is great for the views over the pool and beach. It also has great panoramic views over the sea and the long beach of Santa Maria. You also have the use of the sun lounger mats that are kept in the apartment for your use. Amenities/Facilities provided hob/stove, fridge/freezer, satellite tv, tv, air conditioning, room fans, shared pool Accessibility The property is on the second floor and does not have a lift. The stair wells are quite wide and accessible. The apartment is right next to the pool and the beach. The apartment is all on one level. Outside The apartment comes with a large shared pool as per photographs. It also has sun loungers and a shower. There are two terraces for the apartment one at the back with a table and chairs. There is a large terrace at the front which has panoramic views of the long beach of Santa Maria and the pool. There is a large table for six people including patio chairs. You could hold a barbecue on the terrace if required. There are also shared gardens around the pool area with decking for the sun loungers. For looking after the children you can keep an eye on them from the terrace. There are also sunlounger mats for the use of clients which are kept in the apartment for use round the pool. Coast/Beach The beach is a few metres from the apartment as per pictures as is the coast. The beach is as perfect as you can get. It consists of fine powdery sand all along the fantastic long beach. the sea is also clean and turquoise in colour. There is no pollution on the beach. Travel Sal airport is a short taxi drive away of about 12 minutes. You do not need to hire a car as the Island is not very large. There is a bus service from Sal to the only other town of Espargos which costs 1 euro each way or 10 Euro for a taxi there. Distances There is only one other town on the Island and that is called Espargos which is ten kilometeres away. There are also the old salt mines which are located near Espargos in an old extinct Volcano which is quite interesting as part of it is still in use. There is a turtle sanctuary located along the coast as well. Further details The town of Santa Maria has all the facilities as other small resorts ie The local bakery is located on the next street. Because the apartment is located centrally in the middle of the town all the shops and restaurants are only a short walk away as are the banks. There is also quad biking and buggy driving to do as well. You can go scuba diving and fishing from the pier or from a boat. There is also kite surfing wind surfing and all other water sports including jet ski riding as well. Booking notes You can book the apartment by paying a 10% deposit with the remaining 90% being paid eight weeks before departure. There is a 25% discount for booking a third week. You have views of the old harbour and a large sand dune to the right of the beach. You are only ten minutes away from the new International Airport and a few minutes from the town of Sal Rei. Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: The apartment is cleaned every week but you can request more frequent cleaning if required. The apartment comes complete with all linen and towels and are changed twice a week. Notes on accommodation The apartment is on the 2nd floor and there is a stairwell with a security access. The entry is straight from the beach front. Amenities/Facilities provided hob/stove, oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, room fans Accessibility The property is not suitable for people with mobility problems as there is no lift but the staircase is very wide. Outside The outside area consists of a large balcony that you can have alfresco meals there and watch the sun rise and fall. The view from the balcony is panoramic of the beach and the sea. Coast/Beach The beach of Cabral is located right in front of the apartment. The beach consists of the best white powdery sand as per pictures and is definitely not crowded yet. There are other beaches on the other side of town as well which is just a short walk away. There are some more secluded beaches all around the Island which a accessible by four wheel drive vehicles only. Travel The main new International airport is only a 15 minute taxi drive away and should only cost around 8 Euro for the journey. There is a commercial harbour a mile away from the apartment. I think it would be best to hire an Aluguer which is a type of four wheel Taxi with no roof on the back to see the rest of the Island as there are hardly any signs and they will show you all the sights to see. There are also quad bikes to hire as well which is great fun I can recommend them. Distances The local town of Sal Rei is just a few minutes walk behind the apartment. The other villages and beaches are a taxi drive away which you can take daily or half day excursions to see at a reasonable cost if there are a few of you going to share the taxi. Further details There is a local supermarket and bakery a few hundred yards behind the apartment which is the biggest I have seen in Cape Verde. The Town of Sal Rei is also a few hundred yards behind the apartment with its quaint large square where all the locals gather. There is also a park for the children as well. Around the square are all the shops, restaurants, banks and souvenir shops. The town also boasts a small fishing harbour where all the small fishing boats anchor of shore as it is well sheltered from the sea. There are also some beach bars with beach beds for you to sunbathe on. Booking notes I require a 10% deposit with the booking and the rest eight weeks prior to departure, or, if less than eight weeks, I require payment in full.
